Romantic Vacations

Romantic Vacations

Perhaps you and your spouse or partner have decided it’s time to recapture the romance, which the daily grind has begun to steal from your lives.  If so, congratulations, because there are very few relationships that will survive without an occasional getaway and some “alone time” in beautiful surroundings. You can, in fact, decide to spend your getaway in one of the world’s romantic vacation spots which provides opportunities both for pampering in peace and quiet, and for outdoor adventure.  Why not choose one of these combination destinations and get two vacations rolled into one?

Alaska

While Alaska may not leap to mind as the most romantic destination in the world, any couple who have an interest in seeing exotic places and experiencing exotic adventures will be delighted with what Alaska has to offer.  There is no better place to escape from the summer heat, and you’ll get more hours out of every day because the skies remain light until nearly midnight during the Alaska summer time.  Alaska is a place where you can enjoy the magnificence of the glaciers from aboard a super-luxurious cruise ship, or experience all the glories of the wilderness on your own hiking and camping trip. Watch the grizzlies feeding from wild rivers on salmon, or watch whales giving birth.  Revisit the Alaskan Gold Rush at a mining town, and immerse yourself in the culture of the native Alaskans.  Board a train which takes you to Mount McKinley, the highest American peak, or head for Anchorage and the Hilltop Ski area to enjoy some downhill runs of your own.

Paris

Few people would deny that the City of Lights is one of the most romantic destinations in the world.  Picture yourself and your partner standing arm in arm above the city not in the Eiffel Tower, but in the bell tower of Notre Dame, where Quasimodo died for love of Esmeralda!  Enjoy a picnic on the grounds of Versailles, to get a taste of royal life in the time of Marie Antoinette. Even better, treat yourselves like royalty by booking a room at the Renaissance Chateau d’Esclimont, set in its own 120 acre park complete with a moat and lake less than an hour from Paris.  Spend your day biking or hiking on the grounds, or book the romantic package which includes dinner sailing above the château in a hot air balloon!

Venice

Few cities in the world are as romantic as Venice in the wintertime.  The mist rising off the canals will cloak your gondola ride with a mysterious softness. Or you can simply invest in a two dollar map and wander hand in hand through the ancient city, stopping to gaze into the waters beneath you on the Bridge of Sighs. Lord Byron himself baptized this bridge as the place where condemned prisoners stopped to gaze on the world for the last time as they were led to their execution.  Return to your hotel so you can dress before enjoying Bellinis for two created from the same recipe which Byron himself enjoyed at Venice’s legendary bar, Harry’s!

The Caribbean

From the pink sands and turquoise waters of the Bahamas, to hiking through banana groves and coffee plantations as you scale the 7400 feet of Jamaica’s Blue Mountain Peak, the Caribbean has both relaxation and adventure opportunities to meet any couple’s romantic expectations.  In Aruba, spend your days exploring the caves, especially the “Tunnel of Love,” with its heart-shaped entrance.  Enjoy horseback riding or viewing the marine life in a glass bottom boat.  At night, enjoy the excitement of the casinos after dining at one of the many gourmet restaurants.

Thailand

If your perfect romantic vacation spot has to include a spa, Bangkok, Thailand , is the place to go.  Nearly all the hotels will offer spa services in which you can indulge after a day of shopping at some of the largest malls in Asia strolling through the city’s many peaceful temple compounds, or taking a leisurely boat ride along the ancient canals.  Bangkok’s nightlife is nothing short of legendary!

The world is full of romantic vacation spots, so don’t stop with our recommendations!  You and your beloved, with a little effort, are sure to find the romantic vacation spot of your dreams!

Remove the Worry from Your Vacation with Travel Medical Insurance

If you have ever travelled abroad, you’ve almost certainly heard about “Montezuma’s Revenge,” one of the most frequently mentioned examples of the perils of travelling.  While it’s true that getting away from it all for a while is one of the best possible ways of unwinding from the stresses of your normal life, travel doesn’t come without risks.  Travel medical insurance is your way of coping with those risks so that you can throw yourself completely into the fun of your vacation!

Travel medical insurance is a temporary form of medical coverage which will protect you during your business trip or holiday.  It may be a stand-alone policy, or it may be tailored to cover the gaps in your current health insurance policy.  Almost all travel agencies (an estimated 80% of them) offer travel insurance which include some kind of medical travel insurance, and don’t charge anything extra for the medical coverage.  But deciding to purchase your medical travel insurance from your travel agent can lead to serious headaches in the future.  Why?

If you decide to purchase medical travel insurance from a professional insurance agent, you’re certain to be asked specific questions about the state of your health.  By answering these questions honestly, you give your insurance agent an idea of what sort of coverage you’ll need, and how high your insurance quote will be.  Should you require medical attention due to a current health condition during your vacation, it will be covered.

If, however, you accept your travel agents offering of medical coverage, the chances are very good that you won’t be asked about your existing conditions.  If you don’t volunteer that information so that it can be specifically mentioned in your coverage, you’ll have to pay out of your own pocket if it requires treatment while you were away.  If those costs include not only doctors visits, but hospitalization, prescription medications, and even surgery, you could be paying for your vacation for a very, very long time!

The fact is, that most travel insurance policies exclude a great deal from their coverage.  While in some cases they’ll remove those exclusions (if you’re willing to pay a high enough premium), you’ll probably be able to save money if you go directly to the insurance provider when purchasing your coverage.

All the most respectable insurance companies have websites, where by providing just a bit of your personal information you’ll be able to get travel medical insurance quotes and do some comparison shopping.  Take the time to study what is included in each of these insurance policies, so that you don’t pay for more coverage than you need, but aren’t left holding the bag unnecessarily. “Montezuma’s revenge” is the least of what can happen when you’re vacationing away from home.  Having adequate travel medical insurance will make sure that if you’re confronted with anything worse, you’ll feel comforted with the knowledge that you’re financially protected!
